Roaring back to life, a rejuvenated Plateau United under the guidance of newly signed Technical Adviser, Coach Gbenga Ogunbote will on Wednesday lock horns with Enugu Rangers in a high-stakes Match Day 23 NPFL clash at the New Jos International Stadium.
After spending a large part of the first stanza of the 2025/2026 NPFL season in the relegation zone, the Peace Boys have shown renewed belief and resilience.
Two valuable away draws against Abia Warriors in Aba and Katsina United in Kano, coupled with a convincing home win over neighbours Wikki Tourists of Bauchi, signal a team rediscovering its edge.

Since the start of the second stanza, Plateau United have picked up 5 points from a possible 9 and remain unbeaten, a clear sign of improved organisation and fighting spirit under the “Oracle”, former Enugu Rangers Coach.
Head-to-Head Battle:
Both sides share an evenly balanced rivalry, with 8 wins apiece and 2 draws.
Plateau United will be chasing maximum points to climb from 17th to around 13th on the table.
Beyond league positioning, victory would also hand the Mutfwang’s Boys bragging rights over their former coach, Fidelis Illechukwu, now at the helm of Enugu Rangers.
In the reverse fixture on 7th September 2025, Rangers ran out 2 – 0 winners in Enugu through goals from C. Iwundu (45’) and C. Nwobodo (80’).
Last season in Jos, the Antelopes also edged a narrow 1- 0 victory courtesy of C. Okorie.
Key Battles on the Pitch
Rangers come into the game on the back of a 4 – 2 win over Warri Wolves, with Godwin Obaje and C. Igwilo both grabbing braces.
However, they will be tested by Plateau United’s defensive unit of Harrison Ebah, Wisdom Ndom, Iwueke Obiutu and Abdullahi Mustapha.
Obaje currently leads Rangers’ scoring chart with 8 goals, while Plateau United striker Gideon Monday, who missed a gilt-edged chance against Katsina United, will be eager to make amends. Monday has already netted 5 goals this season.
Coach Ogunbote also boasts a strong attacking arsenal, including Gafar Saka, Gimba Ajiji (the Katsina United signing who impressed against his former side) and Alao Dabani, who provided the assist for Vincent Temitope’s goal against Wikki Tourists.
With confidence restored and momentum building, Plateau United will be aiming to make Jos a fortress once again as they hunt the Antelopes before their motivated supporters club who sang and chanted for 90 minutes against Katsina United in Kano.
