Plateau United picked their first win of the season after a solid 2-0 home victory over Remo Stars in match week four proceedings.

Sola Adegun made a strong statement with his lineup that was more attacking minded. Favour Bala was preferred in goal as the goalkeeper made his debut for the club.

The game ended goalless in the first 45 as it was a cagey affair despite the likes of
Kazeem Adeyanju, Vincent Temitope, and Chinemerem Collins trying their lucks on several occasions. Remo Stars’ defense remained resolute to ensure the break ended even.

Adegun ringed a change in the attack at the start of the second half with Saka Gafar replaced Albert Hilary as the team was in search of goals and a win.

The breakthrough would come in the 63rd minute as Vincent Temitope whipped in an inch perfect cross that was met by Tarabina Gwote to head home.

Saka Gafar was close to doubling United’s lead but his effort rattled the cross bar. Substitutes Mafeng Pam and Maren Kefas also made an impact, keeping the midfield and flank ticking.

Plateau United would have the advantage late in the game aa Remo Stars’ defender Stanley Joseph was red carded for a foul as the last man.

Late substitute Jonathan Okechukwu would bag the assist for the second goal after his ferocious free kick parried back into play was pounced on by Mafeng Pam.

Pam’s goal sealed the day for the Peace Boys as Favour Bala kept a clean sheet on his debut.

The win sees United move off the bottom of the NPFL table as they will look to add more wins to help their course for the season.

The Peace Boys will return to action in another home game in a fortnight as their next opponent Kwara United will be on the continental duties this weekend
